I can't keep getting away with it
This summer I got a chance to hike the Tour du Mont Blanc over the span of 7 days with my family. We started in Chamonix, hiked between towns, saw beautiful landscapes, and ate the most cheese I think I’ve ever had in the span of a week.
I got a chance to take my friend Carmen’s film camera with me as well as my very own Fujifilm X100VI. I took so many photos. Tag along to see how I fared with minimal training!
The trip
My parents are big goal setters. Not only frequent goalsetters, but also large, seemingly insurmountable goal setters.
So, naturally, when my mom asked me if I wanted to show up to a week long hike with 8-10 miles of walking in the Alps with anywhere from 2000-4500ft of elevation gain, I was scared. Surely, I could do it?
Where would I train?
How would I train?
The last strenous thing I had trained for was nearly 6 years ago when I biked from Seattle to Portland in a day after a few months of training.
On the other hand, I was biking often in Berkeley, I was generally active, and I had one trick up my sleeve– I’m young. And something about being young makes me feel invincible.
So I did it. I trained by doing one (1) singular 12 mile hike with my family in Seattle. And then I just hopped on the plane, and I found myself in beautiful Geneva by the time I knew it.
